Yesterday our country, my country, and the world were shocked and outraged by Trump’s racist and incendiary language and his bold encouragement of mob behavior. The protestors that stood outside and then stormed the Capitol were filled with anger, hatred, defiance and disrespect of our Presidential election results won by President-elect Joe Biden and VP President-Elect Harris, and lost by soon-to-be Former President Donald Trump.
The mob was not a peaceful gathering: they were vocal, violent and allowed to destroy property, invade Congressional offices and march into the Congressional Chamber to intentionally disrupt the Congressional process to certify the election results. They interrupted and harassed reporters and destroyed their cameras and equipment.
It was disturbing to see White privilege exert its power in such a blatant and destructive manner. I have no doubt that the crowd would have been disbursed with lethal force if they were Black or Brown people protesting.
Trump lost the election last month, but today it feels like we lost much more as a country – respect for the Constitution, the dignity and respect for the democratic election process and the safe transition of power.
What can we do now? Prayer. Forgive. Educate. Liberate.
Use power for the good of the people. Fight for inclusion, dignity and equality for all people. Speak out for justice. And, recognize that the strength of God has prepared the way. Know that God is the Alpha and the Omega, everywhere present, in the darkness and in the light.

Ayer, nuestro país, mi país y el mundo se sorprendieron e indignaron por el lenguaje racista e incendiario de Trump y su audaz aliento al comportamiento de la mafia. Los manifestantes que se quedaron afuera y luego irrumpieron en el Capitolio estaban llenos de ira, odio, desafío y falta de respeto a los resultados de nuestras elecciones presidenciales ganados por el presidente electo Joe Biden y el vicepresidente electo Harris, y perdidos por el futuro ex presidente Donald Triunfo.
La mafia no era una reunión pacífica: eran ruidosos, violentos y se les permitió destruir propiedades, invadir las oficinas del Congreso y marchar hacia la Cámara del Congreso para interrumpir intencionalmente el proceso del Congreso para certificar los resultados de las elecciones. Interrumpieron y acosaron a los periodistas y destruyeron sus cámaras y equipos.
Fue perturbador ver que el privilegio blanco ejercía su poder de una manera tan descarada y destructiva. No tengo ninguna duda de que la multitud habría sido disuelta con fuerza letal si hubieran protestado personas negras o morenas.
Trump perdió las elecciones el mes pasado, pero hoy parece que perdimos mucho más como país: el respeto por la Constitución, la dignidad y el respeto por el proceso electoral democrático y la transición segura del poder.
¿Qué podemos hacer ahora? Orar. Perdonar. Educar. Liberar.
Usar el poder para el bien de la gente. Luchar por la inclusión, la dignidad y la igualdad de todas las personas. Hablar por la justicia. Y reconocer que la fuerza de Dios ha preparado el camino. Saber que Dios es el Alfa y la Omega, presente en todas partes, en la oscuridad y en la luz.
