NM CAFe Mission & Vision Convening / Reunión de misión y visión de NM CAFe
On Tuesday, January 31st NM CAFe Staff and Board of Directors convened at the Holy Cross Retreat Center to begin developing a new mission statement and vision for the organization. Together, we spent the evening having a group conversation envisioning the purpose of NM CAFe going forward.
We will continue our strategic planning session in March to develop a finalized mission and vision for the organization. And, then plan a session to share with community leaders.
El martes 31 de enero, el personal y la junta directiva de NM CAFe se reunieron en el Holy Cross Retreat Center para comenzar a desarrollar una nueva declaración de misión y visión para la organización. Juntos, pasamos la tarde teniendo una conversación grupal imaginando el propósito de NM CAFe en el futuro.
Continuaremos nuestra sesión de planificación estratégica en marzo para desarrollar una misión y visión finalizadas para la organización. Y luego planee una sesión para compartir con los líderes de la comunidad.
Immigrant Day of Action in Santa Fe, NM at the Roundhouse / Día de Acción del Inmigrante en Santa Fe, NM en el Roundhouse
Every year during the legislative session, immigrant advocacy groups and leaders from across the state of New Mexico convene for a day of action and lobbying in Santa Fe, NM. This year we joined El Centro de Poder y Accion, Somos Accion, Partnership for Community Action, New Mexico Voices for Children, and the New Mexico Dream Team for a march and rally to the Roundhouse.
More than 300 immigrant worker advocates came together for this day of action and spoke with their legislators to remind them that workers are the engine of New Mexico’s economy. Immigrants and their families are an integral part of New Mexico, and they deserve policies that support them and their children.
The rally included speakers from each organization as well as key legislators who advocate for and support immigrant workers on their behalf. CAFe Accion was able to meet with Representatives from Southern New Mexico such as: Nathan Small, Raymundo Lara, and Angelica Rubio.
We would like to highlight CAFe Accion leader, Alfonso Aguiano Tapia for sharing his story in front of the crowd of advocates and supporters during this day of action, it is not easy for anyone to share their story in front of a crowd, and Alfonso did so powerfully.
Cada año, durante la sesión legislativa, los grupos y líderes defensores de los inmigrantes de todo el estado de Nuevo México se reúnen para un día de acción y cabildeo en Santa Fe, NM. Este año nos unimos a El Centro de Poder y Acción, Somos Acción, Partnership for Community Action, New Mexico Voices for Children y New Mexico Dream Team para una marcha y manifestación hacia la rotonda.
Más de 300 defensores de los trabajadores inmigrantes se reunieron para este día de acción y hablaron con sus legisladores para recordarles que los trabajadores son el motor de la economía de Nuevo México. Los inmigrantes y sus familias son una parte integral de Nuevo México y merecen políticas que los apoyen a ellos y a sus hijos.
La manifestación incluyó presentadores de cada organización, así como legisladores clave que abogan y apoyan a los trabajadores inmigrantes. CAFe Acción pudo reunirse con representantes del sur de Nuevo México como: Nathan Small, Raymundo Lara y Angélica Rubio.
Nos gustaría destacar al líder de CAFe Acción, Alfonso Aguiano Tapia, por compartir su historia frente a la multitud de defensores y simpatizantes durante este día de acción, no es fácil para nadie compartir su historia frente a una multitud, y Alfonso lo hizo tan poderosamente.
NM CAFe (Comunidades en Acción y de Fe) Team Training & Building / NM CAFe (Comunidades en Acción y de Fe) Formación de Equipo & Entrenamiento
CAFe staff participated in additional training and learning earlier this month. The CAFe team had the opportunity to learn more about each other as individuals and as a team to do some team building. We strategized on potential opportunities for organizing, civic engagement, and fundraising for the 2023 year.
A major goal for this year, which you may have heard a lot about already, is to build more relationships within the community of Dona Ana and Luna counties. We are committed to expanding and strengthening relationships with each other, our community members and our allies to make that goal a reality.
The more our CAFe staff becomes better educated and trained within our organizing capabilities, the more effectively we can build and foster everlasting change for the future of Southern New Mexico, and beyond it. And each of you are a part of our vision.
El personal de CAFe participó en capacitación y aprendizaje adicionales a principios de este mes. El equipo de CAFe tuvo la oportunidad de aprender más unos de otros como individuos y como equipo para hacer algo de trabajo en equipo. Elaboramos estrategias sobre posibles oportunidades de organización, participación cívica y recaudación de fondos para el año 2023.
Una meta importante para este año, de la que ya habrá oído hablar mucho, es construir más relaciones dentro de la comunidad de los condados de Doña Ana y Luna. Estamos comprometidos a expandir y fortalecer las relaciones entre nosotros, los miembros de nuestra comunidad y nuestros aliados para hacer realidad ese objetivo.
Cuanto más nuestro personal de CAFe esté mejor educado y capacitado dentro de nuestras capacidades de organización, más eficazmente podremos construir y fomentar un cambio duradero para el futuro del sur de Nuevo México y más allá. Y cada uno de ustedes es parte de nuestra visión.
