Rising Youth New Mexico Internship Program – Interns Selected
We would like to announce that Allyssa Wright, Youth Community Organizer, has officially launched the internship program for the Rising Youth New Mexico cohort. Two wonderful interns have been selected and they are: Karla Guzman and Victoria Brieto.
Meet Karla
Hi all! My name is Karla Robles Guzmán, and I am a student at NMSU double majoring in Counseling & Community Psychology and Spanish. I am from Oaxaca, México but have called Las Cruces home for years. I am beyond excited for this opportunity to serve my community and work with youth to create the next generation of leaders. During my free time, I love spending time with my cat Perlita and taking photos with my 2009 digital camera!
Meet Victoria
Hello, I’m Victoria Brito. I graduated from New Mexico State University with a Bachelor’s of Criminal Justice with a Minor in Business Administration. I was born and raised in Las Cruces, NM, and I am the middle child of three. I am an avid traveler who is always ready to embark on a new adventure. My whole life, I believed it was my moral duty to help others and make a difference. After studying abroad in Italy, I gained a greater appreciation for other cultures and now believe in the importance of keeping an open mind and considering the perspectives and values of others. Although I may not always have the solution to a problem, I am willing to work hard and collaborate with others to develop a strategy to address the problem. I am honored to be an intern for NM CAFe’s rising youth program and look forward to collaborating with the members of NM CAFe to spread awareness and advocate for various causes. I am excited to become a member of the team and hope to make a positive contribution to my community.

Rising Youth New Mexico & Rising Youth National Cohort Graduation
With the launch of the Rising Youth New Mexico program in June of 2023, the cohort officially fulfilled their year-long commitment to the organizing cohort. Their commitment now comes to an end this June 21st of 2024, and all youth from the New Mexico and the Faith in Action national cohort will be graduating.

NM CAFe Executive Director Hiring search
As you may or may not already know, NM CAFe is in the search for CAFe’s next Executive Director. Brenda Martinez, who has served as our interim previously and now over the last 4 months, has done an amazing job guiding us through our transition.
Brenda will also be transitioning out of NM CAFe to spend more time with her family, and although we are sad to see her go, she is deserving of rest and will be helping see us through for our next Executive Director.
In the meantime, our national network, Faith in Action will be sending Catalina Morales to serve as interim as the search for the new Executive Director begins.
